About the BRIHAT-ASA Project
The BRIHAT-ASA project, led by Dr. Jayant Mahadevan (Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, NIMHANS), is centered around mental health support for mothers and their infants. The project requires enthusiastic professionals who can work hands-on in hospitals, conduct assessments, deliver interventions, and collect vital data.

Post-wise Eligibility & Job Profile
1. Psychiatric Social Worker
Eligibility:
- M.Phil in Psychiatric Social Work OR
- MSW with 3 years’ field research or mental health experience
- Prior experience with pregnant women and mothers with infants is desirable
Job Responsibilities:
- Recruit and retain pregnant mothers for the study
- Deliver home-based mental health interventions
- Conduct mental health assessments
- Coordinate with hospital doctors across Bengaluru
- Fluent Kannada (spoken, written, read)
Contract Duration: Initially 6 months, extendable up to 5 years
2. Psychologist
Eligibility:
- M.Phil in Clinical Psychology OR
- MA/MSc in Psychology with 3 years of field or clinical experience
- Experience with maternal care preferred
Job Responsibilities:
- Similar responsibilities to the Psychiatric Social Worker role
- Mental health interventions and documentation
- Home visits, assessments, coordination with hospitals
Contract Duration: 6 months, extendable
3. Research Nurse
Eligibility:
- B.Sc Nursing with at least 1 year of mental health experience
Job Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and follow-up of pregnant mothers
- Collect biological samples (both hospital and home visits)
- Perform anthropometric measurements
- Must be comfortable travelling within Bangalore
- Fluent in Kannada
Duration: 6 months, with possible extension
4. Yoga Therapist
Eligibility:
- M.Sc in Yoga Therapy or Masters in Yoga
- 1-year experience in mental health yoga sessions (preferably for pregnant women)
Job Role:
- Conduct prenatal yoga and mother-baby sessions
- Perform impact assessments of yoga interventions
- Visit maternity hospitals for sessions
- Fluent in Kannada and able to work in a team
Duration: 6 months initially
