Eligibility Criteria for UPSC CMS Recruitment 2025

1. Nationality

Candidates must be:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, or
  • A person of Indian origin from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, or certain East African countries.

Candidates from the last three categories need an eligibility certificate from the Government of India.

Educational Qualification

  • Must have passed MBBS (both written & practical exams) from a recognized university.
  • Final-year MBBS students can apply but must submit proof of passing the final exam before selection.
  • Internship completion is mandatory before appointment.

Physical & Medical Standards: Candidates must be physically and medically fit as per UPSC CMS rules.

Age Limit (as of August 1, 2025)

  • Maximum age: 32 years (Born on or after August 2, 1993).
  • For Medical Officers in the Central Health Services, the upper age limit is 35 years.
